Moe Bandy the Bull Rider

Moe Bandy grew up in Meridian, Texas, hometown of the legendary Jimmie Rodgers who then worked on the railroad for Moe’s Dad. After the family moved to San Antonio when Moe was six years old, he made some appearances with his Dad’s country band but was more interested in bronco busting and bull riding.  By the time he was 16, he was competing in rodeos across Texas. In 1962, he began a serious pursuit of a career in country music with his own band in San Antonio when not on the job as a sheet metal worker. In 1973 he made some contacts in Nashville and later recorded his favorite song “Bandy The Rodeo Clown” before producing many more hits. He opened the Moe Bandy Theatre in Branson in the early ‘90s and helped the town become known as the Live Music show Capital of America.

Shoji and Roy Acuff

Shoji Tabuchi, who’s been playing the violin since he was seven years old, met Roy Acuff when the country music star toured Japan.  Acuff invited Tabuchi to visit him in Nashville if the youngster ever came to America.  After finally getting to the United States and spending 11 years playing in Louisiana, Kansas City and San Francisco, Tabuchi made the journey to Nashville.  Acuff arranged for him to perform on the Grand Ole Opry and more appearances following.  In 1980, Tabuchi came to Branson and a few years later built his own theatre where he’s been performing ever since.

Jim Stafford and the Smothers Brothers

Jim Stafford was born in Eloise, Florida and grew up in Winter Haven where he played in his high school band. He taught himself how to play the guitar, banjo, piano, fiddle, organ and harmonica. In 1967 and ‘68 he served as head copywriter/producer and performed regularly on the Smothers Brothers television show. After a career in song writing, television and movie appearances, Stafford opened his own Branson music show in the 1990s.
