Mini Golf on July 7th, 2011
Some of the greatest golfers in the world come often to Branson to compete on its spectacular courses. No, it’s not Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus or Arnold Palmer. Instead it’s high flying “pros” like Jaxson Agers and Aidan Cole and Jordon Reando.
Never heard of them? Why, six year old Jaxson and 10-year old Jordon, from DeSoto, Missouri, and five year old Aidan from Festus, Missouri, are true kings of Branson’s golf courses…mini golf courses that is. (see photo) Of course their royal titles are shared by many thousands of young and old players who challenge the numerous themed, well-landscaped mini golf attractions that are scattered throughout Branson. If you want to join their ranks, the biggest chore facing you is selecting which courses to test with your golfing skills. If you prefer you can even play indoors. Here’s the lineup of Branson courses to choose from:
Branson Tracks Miniature Golf, various locations. 1/800-785-1550
(Gator Golf, Track 4; Storybook Land, Kids Kountry; The Lost Mine, Track 3)
Pirates Cove Adventure Golf, 2901 Green Mountain Drive. 417/336-6606
Grand Country Indoor Mini Golf, 1945 W 76 Country Blvd. 417/334-3919
Branson Family Fun Factory, 2400 Missouri 165. 417/332-2110
Lost Treasure Golf, 3336 W 7 Country Blvd. 417/332-0889
Greatest Adventures Miniature Golf, 4800 Gretna Road. 417/332-0888
Brookside Miniature Golf, 2925 Shepherd of the Hills Expy. 417/334-1262
Sheryl Alderman Greatest, 103 Grande Summit Pt. 417-334-1262
Dinosaur Canyon Mini Golf, 2501 Green Mountain Drive. 417/332-0887
Editor’s Note: The oldest known mini golf course is the Ladies’ Putting Club in St. Andrews, Scotland, which was formed in 1867 when women were not permitted to “take the club past their shoulder.” The 18-hole course is one of the most prestigious on the British Isles and has been played by many celebrities including Tom Watson, Ben Crenshaw and George Bush Sr.
