Okay, so last Autumn, USA Today picked the Reeds Spring Pizza Company as the Number One Pizza Place in Missouri by USA Today. What do local residents think about that? I for one certainly agree that Paul and Flavie Lear with their chef Brady turn out some mighty fine food….including pizza. My friends and vacationers I’ve surveyed who have visited the unique little restaurant in historic Reeds Spring seem to agree.
It’s was Flavie’s creation, but Paul and her three daughters played a major role in making the dream become reality in this small community that once witnessed a shootout down the main street between local constables and Bonnie and Clyde. The town lies about 10 miles from Branson on Highway 13. (West on 76 Highway past Silver Dollar City about 3 miles to the end of 76. Right to first light. Left about 3 miles into Reeds Spring. Restaurant on left side as you enter the town center.) Even though Paul’s busy running a printing company and serving as Reeds Spring mayor, you’ll still find him greeting customers in the evening and giving Flavie a hand.
The restaurant is highlighted by six very special pizzas and each will please. Featured is the Reeds Spring Pizza that blends olive oil, sliced tomatoes, fresh basil, roasted garlic, shredded Parmesan and Mozzarella topped with the house’s special herbs (10” $7, 14” $12.50, 16” $14.50). The Seven Cheese version is about $2 more. All the pizzas are close to or within this price range. You may want to order the Create Your Own and pick from six cheeses, 11 vegetables and nine meats. If you load up with three or four toppings, your bill will amount to $8.50 for the 10 incher, $16 for the 14 incher, or $18 for the 16 incher.
The salad and soup portion of the menu provides some great choices to go with or without a pizza. There’s also many choices of calzones and toaster grinders with the bread being baked daily. The 12 inch toaster grinders allow your choice of ham & cheese, vegetable, salami, pepperoni, meatballs, roast beef & cheddar and corn beef for a tasty, hefty Reuben. My favorite salad is the Garden Lover ($5.50) that includes Romaine lettuce, artichoke heart, cucumber, green pepper, tomato, red onion, black olives, mushroom and shredded Parmesan with a rosemary lemon dressing.
Come join the “Locals” who regularly enjoy the Live Noodle Bar featured on Wednesdays, and the Monday special (a 16-inch one topping pizza for $9.95). The Live Noodle Bar features 16 pasta items prepared “live” in the dining room for the all you can eat buffet. (With salad bar and bread $9.95. Children 12 and under $4.95).
If you decide to come judge the pizza or other menu offerings for yourself, call to check the traffic flow. The Reeds Spring Pizza Company is a popular place and parking is limited. You’ll find it’s well worth the effort to add another great dining experience to your Ozark Mountain Country adventure.
