Overview
Silver Dollar City began as an 1890′s mining town themed craft village at the entrance to Marvel Cave, and has grown into one of the most popular theme parks in the United States. A day at Silver Dollar City will transport you back in time. you can watch over 100 working craftsmen demonstrate their skills. Watch the creation of beautiful furniture,wood carvings, jewelry, candy, and glass works, to name just a few. Silver Dollar City offers entertaining shows on their streets and in theaters around the property. The food is outstanding. Silver Dollar City even has its own culinary and craft school.
Silver Dollar City also presents its guests with over 30 rides and attractions. Thrill rides like the most recently added roller coaster, “Powder Keg”, brings speeds of 58 mph in 2.6 seconds. The park also features many family rides like the “Giant Swing” and attractions like the new “Half-Dollar Holler”.
The park also features six festivals starting in the spring with the international performers of “World Fest” April 17th to May 5th. Running from May 9th to May 27th two great traditions are combined in “Bluegrass & BBQ”. Great fun to be had for kids and parents alike during the summer months is “Kids Fest” June 8th – July 21st. August 23- September 2nd has the best Southern Gospel performers in the nation. The “National Harvest Festival” has authentic harvest foods and craftsmen and runs from September 12th – October 26th. Rounding out the year is the best light show in the nation, with over 3 million brilliant Christmas lights, for “An Old Time Christmas” November 2nd – December 30th.
Silver Dollar City is a wonderful way to experience beautiful Ozark Mountain country traditions, and is a fantastic place for fun and adventure for the whole family.
